The booklet oscar has made, i think, has visual references to abstract graphics imagery like this by Steven De Loenen. Theres a lot of layers envolved in these images by Steven De Loenen, similar to effect of oscars booklet.

Also look at Tom Muller who has similar imagery. Both graphic designers are ongettyimages and also have their own websites.
