i think the metalic finish works better in the design, it gives the disc a smoother finish, and perhaps the colours before were too much, wot do u guys think?

design so far.... tomorrow has soon come lol

disk

Scanners are so useful you know. i'm going to make a album cover using this image of a disc. I'm going to get images of bands/artists that are envolved with oxfam or perhaps just the band logo and actually put the images on the disc and fade them slightly to make them look part of the disc. I'll post it tommorow guys!

Suggest some artists for this...

...doesn't have to be the obvious.
Who would you like to hear?
s

Er...

...I'm wondering if we're gonna cop it for using other photographers work.

You know how we have to sign a form stating that our essays are original work.

I really feel we should be using our own photography.

mini review

Is everyone alright with going off in the direction of "make trade fair" because i just feel like I've gone off in this direction without discusing any of it with any of you guys. I mean its all part of the oxfam campaign anyway so I cant see why not. So we could do a "The big noise" complelation cd and include the bands/ artists that support make trade fair. So theres Colplay, radio head, snow patro, REM, U2, chemical brothers, lemon jelly, minner driver, jamelia, razor light. There are alot of others bands envolved with "make poverty history" I don't know whether we should include those artists or what? but then this is a campaign oxfam with so i can't see why not? Anyway I ll stop waffling lol. So guys is this ok what I've been doing?

www.oxfam.org.uk/generationwhy/music/artists/

We could perhaps called the cd "generation why" have a look at the site. Give me some feed back please guys.

chris martin already had a black ring on so i simply used the good old clone tool to create the two stripes in the make trade fair logo.

A thought, yes me lol

Could use some images of artists/bands that are in support of making trade fair for this compelation CD cover fold out booklet thingy were thinking of designing (excuse the use of technical terms) Could make use of the make fair trade logo with the images of the band. The fair trade logo could become a tattoo on the band members/ artist. Maybe the logos could be placed on the band members clothes or thier guitars perhaps. So you could have the image of the band member on the left with the logo and the song and lyrics on the right, do this 4 all the bands and the songs to create a foldout thingy, or booklet.

i know the balck should really be white...

Quick poster idea

Quick idea using one of oscars images, making use of the circle shapes for the logo. Don't know how the hell this image could be linked with oxfam and what they do, well it can't really i suppose. Any thoughts?

graphics references

The booklet oscar has made, i think, has visual references to abstract graphics imagery like this by Steven De Loenen. Theres a lot of layers envolved in these images by Steven De Loenen, similar to effect of oscars booklet.

Also look at
Tom Muller who has similar imagery. Both graphic designers are ongettyimages and also have their own websites.

any suggestions/takers
this is your department e'beast
this blog is using a very strange clock, or is it just me??

Quick Design...

...using logos downloaded from oxfam website in combination with bandaged weapon.
I think we should all come up with (a selection of) different designs, which is what a design company would do and then present to the client for discussion.
Doesn't have to be Oxfam of course but I just felt this all fitted together nicely.
Looking forward to seeing everyones ideas

fronts and backs of my booklet from 3d...

These are images Oscar has taken from his 4d cube model he’s made on Bryce. Oscar has made this really interesting booklet. He printed the below images onto see through stuff like acetate and tracing paper. This is very effective and as you can see all the different layers throughout the booklet.

some explanation

http://cubicbeast.blogspot.com/2007/01/paranoid-scrutiny-of-cube.html

ok so basically me and lewis have decided to use the images of mine (in the link above) as a starting point for the photography project, because their graphic nature (and also originally being intended for use in a [semi-transparant] book#) seemed to suit the project. Also we thought it would be nice to tie it in with the 3d project.

They are all either from the virtual 3d model or bump-maps from the photographs we took of our 2m^3 site, mostly in wireframe because it gives that mathematical/scientific feel, which relates to crime solving theme we had running through.

Although we thought a book or booklet of some sort was the way to go, we are as yet unsure of who or what the client should be. one suggestion is a cd booklet, i.e. a band or musical artist being the client.

please feel free to drop in alternative ideas...

i apologise for the backwards nature of this post, i hope it makes sense

Brief.....

For this section of the site project we want you to complete a project that has a specific location, function and audience. You can choose from one of the following clients, or you may add your own and then produce either a hoarding, advertisement, booklet or TV trailer.

clients

ROSPA, FRIENDS OF THE EARTH, ARTS IN THE COMMUNITY, BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL, CUSTARD FACTORY, IKON, UCE/BIAD, THE CARLING ACADEMY, DAZED AND CONFUSED, DAVID FrITH, ORANGE, MAILBOX, OXFAM

personally I think we should choose a client for which we can somehow use work that we have already produced. This way all the work will link together.
